Project Scope: Brand strategy, Brand Research, and Brand Identity and Communication Collaterals
Date: July 2015
Sector: Textiles and Handloom
Weaves: Make in India
BRIEF: A branding solution for a fictitious company, Weaves, while keeping in mind the Indian handloom industry standards and guidelines.
APPROACH: The Indian Handloom industry is an untapped market, Indian weavers and artisans are known for their work but aren’t recognized enough. Hence, the designs used in Weaves collaterals had to emphasize on the intricate work that they handcrafted with love and care to give them the recognition they deserve.
Weaves was a fitting name for a handloom and handcrafted company known for their weavers’ work and the different kinds of intricate weaving they do.
I wanted to adapt traditional designs with a geometric approach to make them not just visually simple, sophisticated but also distinctly contemporary, thereby creating a fresh new aesthetic that is both indigenous and modern.
I used an earthy colour palette that finds its roots in Indian philosophy and compliments the Indian traditions. I also incorporated the brand pattern and their geometric identity across their communication touch points and collaterals.
